Britt Cannino Stone is a native of Winston Salem. She graduated from the University of North Carolina Greensboro with a degree in acting and directing. Before college she spent most of her life studying visual arts and design. Throughout UNCSA intensives and national competitions, she has won 3 national golden key awards where her art was shown in New York City.
Her journey with visual arts was sparked by a love for classic illustration, from Arthur Rackham’s illustrations of fairies, goblins and ghouls to Edward Gorey’s dark etchings all the way to Tim Burton’s cinematic masterpieces. She has found that the aspect of story telling through the visual arts is vastly different that was she has studied through theatre. That the stories we tell as painters, designers and illustrators come from a quiet internal space, yet can be just as loud as an opera. That is what makes it special to the viewer and the storyteller. She hopes her work can not only tell a beautiful story but give you the freedom to do so yourself.
